NJ Town Remembers School Superintendent Hit While Jogging

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey community is remembering a school superintendent who was struck and killed while jogging by a car driven by a student in the district.

A public memorial service for Robbinsville school superintendent Steven Mayer will take place Friday afternoon at Princeton Alliance Church. Because of the expected crowd, the service will be televised at two other locations.

Police say Mayer was hit Tuesday while jogging with his dog by a car driven by a 17-year-old student who was late for a class trip. The dog was also killed.

No tickets or charges have been filed against the student.

Schools are closed Friday because of Passover.
