NJ Senate Panel Passes College Sex Assault Bills
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey's colleges and universities could have to place a link on their home pages showing sexual assault reports.
A state Senate panel approved a bill Thursday that would require higher education institutions to link to the annual total number of students or employees who reported sexual assault incidents by fellow students or employees. Schools would also have to provide students with a hard copy of the information.
The panel also approved two other bills aimed at reducing sexual assault on campuses.
One requires schools to give victims contact information for sexual assault response teams and imposes a $10,000 fine for failing to do so.
The other bill requires colleges to give annual victim-response training to employees. That bill also requires sexual assault training for athletic groups, fraternities and sororities.
