NJ School Bus Driver Accused Of Distributing Images Of Child Sexual Abuse

TRENTON, NJ (CBS) – Authorities say a school bus driver in Mercer County, New Jersey was arrested on charges of allegedly distributing images of child sexual abuse.

Authorities say the files were allegedly sent via email.

Christopher Walsh, 31, was arrested on March 10.

According to the criminal complaint, Walsh's email account allegedly either sent or received 1,590 files that contained images of child sexual abuse.

Authorities say on October 19, 2014, Walsh allegedly emailed another person an image depicting child sexual abuse, stating that he himself was depicted in the image.

From July 30 to August 2, 2015 Walsh allegedly exchanged emails with another user in which he stated that he liked young children, that he was babysitting for particular children of whom he hoped to get photographs and with whom he hoped to "play."

He also allegedly stated one of the children had Down syndrome.

During the exchange, Walsh allegedly sent a video depicting child sexual abuse to the other user.

Authorities say he allegedly sent additional video to another account on August 5, 2015 stating that he, Walsh, created one video and that the other video depicted a child he had met on a school trip.

Officials say each count of distribution of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine.
