NJ Judge Won't Lower Bail For Fatal Stabbing Suspect

WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) — A state judge has refused to lower the bail of a southern New Jersey man accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend.

The ruling issued Friday marked the second time that Rocco Carsillo failed to have his $500,000 bail reduced. The judge made the decision after considering the 56-year-old West Deptford Township man's prior record and other factors raised by Gloucester County prosecutors.

Carsillo is charged with murder, robbery and weapons offenses in the death of 50-year-old Margaret Ann DePietro.

Her body was found March 5 in her West Deptford apartment by a family member and friend who became concerned when they couldn't contact her. She died from multiple stab wounds.

Prosecutors say DePietro and Carsillo had been in a relationship since 2003 and had a history of domestic violence.
