NHL Fines Flyers For CBA Travel Violation

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The NHL announced on Sunday that the league was fining the Flyers for a violation of the collective bargaining agreement as it relates to travel restrictions during the holidays.

The violation occurred when the Flyers traveled to Nashville on December 26th.

The current CBA in the NHL prohibits any team activities, including travel, from Christmas Eve through December 26th.

Traveling on the 26th was done because the Flyers had a road game in Nashville on the 27th. However, other franchises also had road games on the day, but the Flyers were the only team that traveled early, an action that can be seen as a competitive advantage.
