New Program In Camden County Encourages People To Shop Local

CAMDEN N.J., (CBS) -- There's a new campaign encouraging people to open their wallets in Camden County, New Jersey.

Bob and Betty are the names of the two green and purple, seven-foot shopping bag mascots encouraging people to shop in Camden County.

"'Keep It Here' and 'Spend It Here' are their other names."

Camden county official Patricia Egan-Jones joined the mascots Monday night as they made their debut during the Taste of South Jersey event at the Adventure Auditorium.

"They'll be visiting all over the county during the summer months encouraging people to have a good time and to spend their money here," said Egan-Jones.

Egan-Jones says a little local shopping goes a long way.

"If every family in Camden County spent $10 a month in Camden County it would realize a bonus of $35 million to our stores and shops and eateries and we have some of the finest," said Egan-Jones.
