New Pharmacy Opens In Project Home's North Phila. Wellness Center

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A pharmacy opened Saturday at Project Home's Stephen Klein Wellness Center at 21st Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue in North Philadelphia.
It's thanks to $250-thousand grant from a charitable foundation established by a locally based pharmaceutical wholesaler.
Project Home, founded by Sister Mary Scullion, is the Chesterbrook-based Amerisource Bergen Foundation's first beneficiary. Amerisource's June Barry heads the charity.
"The Foundation has three major pillars: healthcare, community, and education." said Barry. "So this partnership with Project Home really fuses two of those together, so we're able to have an impact on the community and the health care."
The wellness center's at 21st Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue is in a zip code described as the second-poorest in Philadelphia. But Project Home Community organizer Helen Brown says the addition of a pharmacy is just what the doctor ordered for the neighborhood, and its residents.
"It makes a big, big, huge, huge difference to seeing something of this magnitude coming back to the Avenue," says Brown. "And I'm thinking that there's yet more to come. With Project Home and Sister Mary, you never know what we'll get next."
