New Change At 69th Street Transportation Center

By Kim Glovas

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Beginning Monday, SEPTA is eliminating "Pay as you Exit" fares at the last station still offering it -- 69th Street Terminal.

"Pay as you Exit" had been the method of payment for suburban transit routes leaving 69th street for decades, but SEPTA's Manuel Smith says as the transit agency went high-tech, that method was eliminated:

"We used to have fare zones and it used to be quite complicated, figuring out what you fare would be going from Point A to Point C. If you went between B and C, there might be an extra fare zone."

Now, 69th Street Transportation Center will be a "Pay as You Enter" station. That covers routes 101-through 113, plus 116, 120, 123, 126 and the Norristown High Speed line.
