New Castle, Del. Police Department Holds A Naming Contest For Its New Clydesdale Horse

NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) -- The New Castle County Police Department is turning to youngsters in the community to help name a new horse in the mounted patrol.
The five-year-old Clydesdale, from Ontario, Canada, actually does have a name. It's Tyson. But the department already has another horse named Titan.
So, to avoid confusion, the mounted patrol officers decided Tyson needed a new name.
Officer first-class Tracey Duffy say the department is reaching out to students in third through eighth grades in New Castle County, to enter a naming contest.
"They have to submit an essay of no more than 250 words explaining why they chose the name for our new horse," she said.
Duffy says entries are due by March 9th and the winner will be announced March 28th.
"The winner will get an afternoon with mounted patrol and they'll also get a photograph with the horse," Duffy tells KYW Newsradio.
