New Attraction Brings Camping To Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (CBS) – Along with the boardwalk, casinos, conventions, and outlets you can add camping to the list of Atlantic City attractions.
The former Atlantic City Transportation Center along the Black Horse Pike has been reinvented into the Atlantic City RV Resort and Marina.
"RV parking was just a natural fit for this property, we got 22 acres here, a lot of open space and it's just a really compatible use," says president David Goddard.
He says as the casino industry began shrinking a decade ago the Transportation Center lost about 90 percent of its bus parking business forcing the property to reinvent itself.
Phase one of the RV resort is now open and consists of about a third of the 60 approved sites.
City leaders are pleased with the addition of a new non-gaming attraction.
"It's something we've been missing for a long time, it's a great re-use of this property," says Mayor Don Guardian.
Amenities include: TV and billiards lounge, wave runners, kayak and paddle board rentals, indoor lodging, full utility and internet access for campers, and not to mention it's pet friendly.
