New App Promises To Break Down How Caffeine Intake Is Affecting Your Sleep

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Ah, caffeine. We drink it during the day to stay awake, but that can sometimes result in sleepless nights.

Now, a new app could help with that problem.

Created by Jawbone, the maker of a popular fitness bracelet, UP Coffee will tell you just how caffeine is affecting your sleep.

Users simply enter data such as height, weight, sex and hours of sleep per night, as well as their caffeine intake, including things like energy drinks and chocolate in addition to that morning latte.

Since how you metabolize coffee depends on numerous factors, UP Coffee promises to trace "caffeine levels past and present to predict future." In other words, the app will use the info you log to help you see how two cups of coffee versus three, or a mocha after 3 p.m. versus before noon, impacts your shuteye.

And while you don't need to have the Jawbone UP band to use the app, you do need to have an Apple device, as UP only works with iOS currently.
