New App Helps Cardiac Patients Get Help They Need At Home
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Some local cardiac patients are finding it easier to get healthy at home.
Cardiac rehabilitation is time-consuming. Patients must attend several times a week for 12 weeks, according to Maryann Classick-Wallace director of Cardiac Rehab at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.
"Many of our cardiac participants have challenges making it in three times a week," said Classick-Wallace. "They have family obligations, they may have transportation challenges and our younger patients are back to work."
She says low risk patients are now allowed to do most of the work at home, using a new phone app called Movn. It explains the lifestyle changes and workouts that can be done when convenient.
Lourdes supplies scales, fitness trackers and blood pressure cuffs. Patients bring the motivation.
