More Prison Time For Man In PA/NJ Police Chase

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man who stole a police car and injured an officer in New Jersey during a two-state drug-fueled chase (see related story) will have to serve more time in prison.

Camden County prosecutors say 25-year-old Blake Bills of Macungie received a 17-year sentence Thursday. He had pleaded guilty last month to carjacking and eluding charges.

Bills is now serving a lengthy prison term in Pennsylvania on charges related to the pursuit (see related story). Once he's freed, he will be transferred to New Jersey to start serving the latest sentence.

Authorities have said Bills and a female companion went on a three-day heroin binge and ultimately stole police cruisers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey in March 2013. Camden Officer Sekou Reid-Bey is still recovering from injuries he sustained when Bills drove directly into him.
