Medical Marijuana On The Doorstep Of Becoming Law In PA

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The state House could, as soon as Wednesday, send Governor Wolf a bill to legalize medical marijuana in Pennsylvania. A bill the governor has promised to sign.

The state House last month amended a medical marijuana bill passed by the Senate. On Tuesday, the Senate amended the bill further, sending the bill back to the House for what could be one final vote.

"We have a bill that uses the House language as the foundation, with a few adjustments and tweaks," said Republican Mike Folmer, a passionate backer of medical cannabis, downplaying the magnitude of the Senate changes.

Steve Miskin, spokesman for the House majority leader, says there have been discussions between the House and Senate.

"We will review the changes made in the Senate, and if they are truly technical in nature, we can take this bill up very soon," said Miskin.

But Miskin also said there were no guarantees.
