McCoy Backtracks, Says 'Duce Pulled Me Out'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- As the Late, Great Vince Lombardi would say, 'What the hell is going on out here?'

With the Eagles holding a six-point lead and the ball late in Sunday's game against the Rams, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy was on the sidelines. Instead, Darren Sproles received an unprecedented four straight carries and the Eagles were eventually forced to punt giving Austin Davis and the Rams one final shot to win the game.

After the game, in which the Eagles did hold on to win 34-28, McCoy admitted he came out on his own.

On Monday morning during his weekly call-in with the 94WIP Morning Show, head coach Chip Kelly confirmed, "LeSean took himself out."

However, Monday evening on McCoy's 94WIP Players' Lounge Show with Anthony Gargano and Ike Reese, Shady backtracked saying running backs coach Duce Staley took him out of the game.

"They called me out," McCoy explained. "Duce pulled me out."

McCoy was asked how that process works.

"Well for the most of the part, if I'm tired I come out," McCoy said. "And Sproles he has his different packages, where he has his plays to come in, but majority of the time I'm just---kinda feel it. Every once in awhile Duce might pull me out, let Sproles get in there. One thing about Duce, I trust his judgement. If I'm tired or if I'm not. Sometimes as a player, you may be tired but you don't want to come out."

"Duce knows me best," McCoy continued. "He pulled me out for a reason, I didn't argue it because I trust him. He been with me since day one, he's been taking care of it. It worked out, freakin' Sproles popped a nice one."
