Masked Man Who Left DNA At Scene Convicted of Robbery Charges

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—A man whose fingerprint was found at the scene has been convicted following an attempted robbery incident last December at a Lancaster County dollar store.

The jury deliberated for about 90 minutes on Tuesday before convicting Edgardo Alfaro-Rodriguez, 20, of felony robbery charges.

Authorities say Alfaro-Rodriguez attempted to rob the Family Dollar store on South Duke Street back on December 2, 2015, but fled the scene when the clerk was unable to open the register.

Alfaro-Rodriguez, who was wearing a mask and armed with a weapon at the time, apparently left DNA evidence at the scene.

Police later recovered a fingerprint that matched Alfaro-Rodriguez.

Lancaster County Judge Howard Knisely, who presided over the trial, will sentence Alfaro-Rodriguez  after a background check is completed in about two months.

Alfaro-Rodriguez remains held on $100,000 bail.
