Fatal Manatawny Manor Nursing Home shooting was a murder-suicide, district attorney says

Chester County nursing home death being investigated as murder-attempted suicide

A woman was killed by her husband at a Pennsylvania nursing home in a murder-suicide, Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe said in a news release.

The East Coventry Police Department and Chester County Detectives were called to the Manatawny Manor Nursing Home on Old Schuylkill Road on Thursday.

Police found an 89-year-old woman dead and her 90-year-old husband, who had shot himself in the head.

The gun was recovered at the scene and the man was taken to Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced dead overnight.

Officials said there is no threat to the public or anyone else in the nursing home and no other injuries were reported.
