N. Wildwood Man In Clown Mask Held Woman, Daughter At Gunpoint

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS)—Police in Middle Township have arrested a man after he allegedly held a woman and her three-year-old daughter at gunpoint earlier this week.

It happened Wednesday around 2 a.m. on Bucknell Ave.

Middle Township Police say 31-year-old Joseph Macklin, of North Wildwood, forced his way into the victim's home and demanded money.

Macklin was apparently aware that the victim had recently accumulated a large sum of money, police said.

The victim told the Press of Atlantic City that the suspect was "wearing a clown mask and holding a long gun resembling a rifle or shotgun."

"He was here for an hour and my daughter was hiding under the blanket for an hour," said the victim.

Macklin fled the scene with various items taken from the residence, and was ultimately arrested in North Wildwood.

He is being charged with armed robbery, burglary, among other related offenses.

Macklin is being held in the Cape May County Correctional Facility on $300,000 bail.

No one was injured in the incident.
