Police: 83-Year-Old Man Injured In Hit-And-Run Says SUV Chasing Another Vehicle Before Being Struck

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An elderly man suffered multiple injuries after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia on Tuesday morning, officials say.

Crews responded to the intersection of Ogontz and Andrews Avenues around 10:30 a.m. for reports of a person struck by a car and a car hitting a house.

The 83-year-old man was transported to Einstein Hospital and is in stable condition.

The man told police he was doing yard work when he saw a blue SUV chasing a white vehicle down the street, before being struck by the SUV.

Officials say the driver of the vehicle did not stop and fled the scene.

Police say they are questioning the owner of the SUV after finding him at his home. Police say the owner has not given any indication that he was driving at the time of the hit-and-run.

Police say they do not know yet if the cars were drag racing or if it was some type of road rage incident.

Police say they do not know the make or model of the white vehicle and are hoping witnesses come forward.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
