Man Accused Of Fracturing Infant's Skull In Montgomery County

LOWER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) —The Montgomery County District Attorney and Lower Providence Township Police say a man has been arrested for allegedly abusing a three-month-old infant.

Officials say their investigation began earlier this month when the baby was treated at Einstein Medical Hospital and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for skull, arm and leg fractures.

Investigators say the infant was in the care of Bruce Long at the time and he allegedly caused the injuries to the baby.

Furthermore, investigators say Long forcefully grabbed both of the infant's legs, twisted them and caused the infant's head to strike a set of drawers at the bottom of a bed.

District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman says, "The physical abuse of such a young, helpless infant will not be tolerated in our community and those who commit such acts will be held accountable."

Officials say Bruce Long has been charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and related offenses.

Authorities say his bail has been set at $100,00 cash and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 29.
