Low Gas Prices Prompting Summer Road Trips
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - As summer approaches, people are making their vacation plans. And if you're travel involves a road trip, you can expect to pay less this year than in several years past.
You can thank those low prices for the expected summer travel boom.
"One-third of American's tell AAA that they are planning to take a family vacation this year," says AAA Mid Atlantic's Jana Tidwell.
She says we will still see the cost of gas continue to rise as summer approaches, as we do every year, but…
"Even though we briefly saw gas prices in this region dip below the $2-a-gallon mark, they have been on the rise lately. In fact, they are at a six-month high right now. However, when you compare those prices to the same time last year, they are significantly less."
In fact, drivers this summer should pay the lowest gas prices in 12 years.
