Local Political Heavyweights React To News Hillary Clinton Is Running For President
By Justin Udo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Hillary Clinton's announcement that she's running for president has gotten positive and negative reaction from people all across the board; even local political movers and shakers are weighing in on Clinton's decision.
Former Philadelphia mayor and Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell says Hillary's past in politics shows she's a good leader for the future.
"I was extraordinarily impressed when she was in the senate with how she worked with Republican conservative senators and got stuff done. If she could do that as president, it's the best hope I think for the country."
On the other hand, Chester County GOP Chairman Val Digiorgio says the Republican Party has a lot of new blood that offers better options than what Clinton brings to the table.
"I think that America is ready for a new direction. Recent polling shows that voters are becoming increasingly disenchanted with the prospects of both a third Obama presidency and a Clinton presidency."
Clinton is the first Democrat to formally announce candidacy for president.
