Local Congressman Seeks Answers On Future Of Recently Sold South Jersey TV Station

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- Congressman Frank LoBiondo wants some answers from the Federal Communications Commission about the recently completed sale of a television station in Atlantic City, New Jersey and whether it might go dark.

The sale of WMGM-TV to California based LocusPoint Networks closed in January. Some fear that NBC 40 will be taken off the air and that the broadcast spectrum space will be sold back to the FCC. LoBiondo has got questions about the whole auction process he wants regulators to answer.

"We're hoping that those answers will help clarify things for us," LoBiondo says. "It's very difficult because we don't have jurisdiction over the sale of a station like that. But we're trying to raise the yellow flag so we don't have to start raising the red flag."

LocusPoint officials in November vowed to keep the station on the air through the length of its affiliate agreement with NBC. They wouldn't say when that expires, nor what happens after that.
