Local Community Explores Cold Case Of Transgender Woman's Mysterious Death

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The death of a transgender woman who was killed in 2002 remains unsolved. On Wednesday night, District Attorney Seth Williams met with members of the community to answer questions about this cold case.
After a night on the town, Nizah Morris was found dead from a fatal head wound minutes after a courtesy ride from a Philadelphia police officer. For years people questioned just what happened.
"Mostly really what I want to do is clear the air so that people feel more comfortable with law enforcement in the LGBT community," says former State Representative Babette Josephs.
Josephs moderated the panel that gave people a chance to have some of their questions answered. And even though he was not the DA at the time, Seth Williams came out to talk about what's going on with the case.
"They have legitimate concerns as to what happened," he says. "He asked was there some sort of foul play? Was there a cover up? And so I'm gladly here to try answer their questions to assure them we're going to do all that we can, but most importantly that if we had evidence to charge anyone we would."
Many who attended the meeting asked for Williams to be more transparent with the investigation into the case.
