Lanes Reopen After Tractor Trailer Overturns Near Ben Franklin Bridge

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An overturned tractor trailer caused delays on Thursday afternoon for commuters on the Ben Franklin Bridge. Officials say that around 2:00 p.m., a tractor trailer overturned on the Philadelphia side of the bridge.

Major delays occurred throughout rush hour as only two lanes were permitted to go through in to New Jersey following the accident.

Around 5:00 p.m., four lanes were open heading eastbound in to New Jersey and two lanes were open heading into Pennsylvania.

At 6:30 p.m., traffic was diverted to the 5th street exit coming into Philadelphia. No traffic was allowed to access I-676 or I-95.

Shortly before 7:00 p.m., the tractor trailer was turned upright. Clean-up began just after and lanes are preparing to reopen on the bridge and for I-676 and I-95.
