Man Charged For Allegedly Stabbing Girlfriend To Death In Gloucester City, Police Say

GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- A Camden County man is facing charges in connection to the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend. Police announced the arrest of 51-year-old John Divetro, who's now facing multiple charges including first-degree murder, on Thursday.

Police say were conducting a wellness check for Christine Madiraca on Wednesday at her home on the 900 block of Bobwood Avenue in Gloucester City.

When officers entered the home, they found Divetro on the bed and Madiraca on the floor, both suffering from stab wounds.

The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Madiraca was pronounced dead a short time later.

Divetro is receiving treatment at the hospital and will be taken to jail when he recovers.
