Job Fair For Veterans Held at Amtrak's 30th Street Station

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A job fair was held today at 30th Street Station with the goal of helping military veterans make the transition into the civilian working world.

John Lundberg, director of operations and logistics with Recruit Military, said this veterans' job fair isn't just for those finishing their military service, but also for those in charge of hiring in the private sector:

"One of the things we try to do with Corporate America is to educate them on men and women coming out, 'cause they think all they can do is look good in uniform, they can shoot a weapon and they can march really well. No.  And that's why, when they come to these events and they see these men and women and they network with them, they go, 'Oh my god, I had no idea.' "

What's the biggest challenge to veterans entering the workforce?

"Knowing where to go, kind of reintegrating into the civilian sector, more or less decompressing from the military side and understanding how it works on the civilian side," Lundberg says.

Hundreds of military veterans stopped in with their résumés to visit with the 66 companies set up at the job fair here.
