Jazz At The Kimmel
By R.J. McKay
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The 2014-15 season of Jazz at the Kimmel is just underway.
Jay Wahl, the artistic director for programming and presentations for the Kimmel Center spoke to KYW Newsradio about the first show with Kurt Elling.
"We're going to kick-off our first big jazz show on October 5th with Chicago native Kurt Elling. He's a vocalist, a crooner in the great tradition of the great American singers – people who really interpret a song," Wahl says.
Wahl also says that Jazz at the Kimmel is about more than just shows.
"We have youth jazz ensembles, so we're leading teenagers and teaching them music. We have a jazz program for three- to five-year-olds, which is called 'Grow Up Great.'"
