MILL RUN, Pa. (CBS) -- A fall foliage getaway to Western Pennsylvania can yield a visual treat at one of America's architectural treasures: Frank Lloyd Wright's "Fallingwater."
Set in the rugged Allegheny Mountains against a backdrop of rushing water, boulder formations, and deep woods, Wright designed Fallingwater as a wilderness home for a prominent Pittsburgh family.
To the eye, the home appears to have a waterfall cascading from its cantilevered terraces. But Fallingwater director Linda Waggoner says, not quite.
"It's over a waterfall," she explains. "The waterfall does not go through the house."
But, she adds, the home does take its inspiration from the cascading water:
"The house hovers out over the waterfall."

The colors and materials blend into the surroundings, and every room and terrace provides stunning vistas.
The overall effect is a unique brand of exhilaration.
"This is a grown-up's tree house, in many ways," Waggoner says.
Tours take an hour, and you can spend a day on the grounds. It's visually dynamic.
