Ice Cream From Old City Shop To Be Served As Dessert For Pope Francis

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's no secret that Pope Francis has a sweet tooth. The Holy Father will be served a dessert at a dinner on Saturday made from an Old City ice cream shop.

The dinner will be held at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary and dessert is promised to be heavenly.

Ryan Berley is the co-owner of Franklin Fountain in Old City

"They commissioned us to make an ice cream with Pope Francis' favorite flavor." says Berley. "Caramelized banana."

And it will be in the shape of the seminary.

"We acquired in our collection years ago a mold from St. Charles that was designed for a 1940 archdiocese Jubilee." says Berley. "There were only 12 molds made. We had it because it was Philadelphia-centric and though it was interesting."

You can taste the cream fit for a pope being sold now at Franklin Fountain at the 100 block of Market Street
