Police: Son Shoots Father On Schuylkill Expressway In Montgomery County

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., (CBS) --  Pennsylvania State Police say a 22-year-old man allegedly shot his father while inside a car on the Schuylkill Expressway.

Police say the incident was reported at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday on I-76 westbound in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County.

According to police, a family of three was traveling in a Buick Lacrosse.

At some point, police say the son, who was seated in rear of the vehicle, allegedly shot his father, the driver, in the head.

The 42-year-old father, from Philadelphia, was tended to at the scene by paramedics which were traveling in the area at the time, according to police.

Police say he was taken to the hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.

Police say the 22-year-old son, from Philadelphia, was taken into custody at the scene. Police say charges are pending.

The Schuylkill Expressway was closed in both directions, but later reopened to traffic.
