Hunters In Berks County Fined $55K For Killing More Geese Than License Allows
WOMELSDORF, Pa. (AP) — The Pennsylvania Game Commission says five eastern Pennsylvania hunters have pleaded guilty to charges they killed 265 more snow geese than they were licensed to hunt in one day and were fined more than $55,000 total.
The commission says the birds were killed in Marion Township, Berks County on April 1.
The bag limit for the birds is 25 per day, but four of the hunters each took at least 48 more than they were allowed that day and have been fined $10,400 each.
A fifth hunter, 30-year-old Norman Brubaker, of Bernville, didn't have a license and was fined $14,990 for killing 73 birds himself.
The game commission says the guilty pleas were entered between May 19 and Monday.
Meat from the birds was donated to a food bank.
