Howard Eskin: Eagles Are 'Not Going To Let Bradford Go'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The most polarizing offseason topic surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles is their quarterback situation, as Sam Bradford is set to become a free-agent.
After signing a five-year contract extension, Eagles tight end Zach Ertz told reporters that the players want Bradford back. SportsRadio 94WIP's Howard Eskin, who told CBSPhilly.com this is simply his opinion, believes Bradford will be back next season one way or another.

"I think he's going to be franchised," Eskin told Angelo Cataldi on Tuesday. "They're not going to let him go, so eliminate that completely. There's no quarterbacks. That is definitive. There's not a chance that they let him go because then you're telling everybody that this is a rebuilding process and you've got no chance. There's no quarterbacks. Mark Sanchez is a backup quarterback and that's what he is. You can't play 16 games without Sam Bradford and with Mark Sanchez as the quarterback and there's nobody else out there that's as good as Sam Bradford.

"I think they're going to try to sign him -- I don't think they want to sign him for six years because obviously of the injury situation with a quarterback," Eskin continued. "I don't think he's in that position. That $25 million number -- I don't even know if it's real -- but the agents throw out numbers it's kind of a hocus pocus knowing he's not gonna be paid more than anybody else. But I think, at worst, he's back here next year. I think he's back next year regardless. And right now, I think they'll franchise tag him so he can't go out in the open market and then try to work out a deal."

When Jeffrey Lurie introduced new head Doug Pederson to the media last week, Lurie revealed his franchise was searching for a new "player personnel head." Eskin believes any new personnel executive would want control over the Eagles' current executive vice president of football operations, Howie Roseman.
"The people that come in want to -- I would think if they're going to change their position from another team -- they want to change to a general manager's position and they would wait for that opportunity," Eskin said. "They had a guy in last year from Kansas City by the name of [Chiefs Director of Football Operations] Chris Ballard, who I understand did a very good interview. But he's not coming in to leave his position as a personnel assistant in Kansas City to be a personal assistant here. And that's just not gonna work. The guy's got to be the personnel guy in control and I think that might be the problem right now with trying to find a guy."
