House Collapses, Surrounding Homes Evacuated After Blaze In Philadelphia Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Firefighters battled a blaze in Kensington early on Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out just before 5 a.m. on the 300 block of Tusculum Street, causing the front of the home to collapse.

The Red Cross is assisting two families, a total of seven people, who lived on both sides of the damaged home.

There were no reported injuries.

Officials are investigating a report of an explosion sound.

Authorities say one dog and four cats were found, but three other cats are missing.

PECO has shut down utilities and PGW has shut down the gas to the residence.

L & I is currently on the scene, officials say it is unclear when nearby homes will be cleared for entry.
