Hero Thrill Show In South Philadelphia Benefits Families Of Fallen Police And Firefighters

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The 60th annual Hero Thrill Show is taking place in South Philadelphia, and proceeds are going to benefit the families of fallen police and fire firefighters.
This year's grand marshal is boxing champ Bernard Hopkins, who is blown away by tens of thousands of people who showed up and honored to be a part of the event.
"To be here to support the Philadelphia fire department and all the law enforcement out of Philadelphia, it's a pleasure for me," he said.
Police commissioner Charles Ramsey is touched by the showing of support.
"When I first saw the crowd, wow," Ramsey said. "It's just a tremendous turnout, and I just feel very good about today and the support that we have here in the city."
More than 800 survivors have benefited from funds raised by the hero thrill show over the years. More than $2-million in scholarship money has been raised since 2006.
