Helping Your Loved One Who Has A Substance Abuse Problem During The Valentine Season

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- February is considered the month of love, because of Valentine's day, but it can be difficult when your significant other has a substance abuse problem.

Forget the candy and the flowers if your Valentine is an addict, you need to find the strength to offer support according to Justin Daniels, founder and CEO of Clarity Way a rehab center near Lancaster.

"It's exhausting to have to love someone and be lied to and not come home. What I tell people is you can never give up on your loved on if it's your son, daughter, wife or husband there is help out there," Daniels says.

He admits there's a fine line between being supportive and being a nag but loving an addict requires setting new parameters and sticking to the new life, setting boundaries and not enabling the addictive behavior and none of it is easy.
