Hard Rock (Again) Dips Toe Into Atlantic City Casino Market
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Florida's Seminole Indians, the Hard Rock Hamlets, are renewing their torturous debate about entering Atlantic City's gambling market.
To be (or not to be) here is a question with which the tribe has wrestled for years.
The Casino Control Commission will hold a special meeting Thursday to consider preliminary approval for the company to own a casino in
Atlantic City. Hard Rock says it has had "a long-standing interest" in the market.
It proposed a small "boutique" casino-hotel with a rock 'n' roll theme in 2011, but scrapped the plan soon afterward. It also flirted with buying Revel before that casino shut down last year.
Hard Rock says the approval it seeks Thursday would enable it to act quickly if a suitable opportunity presents itself in Atlantic City.
