Dom Giordano On Carly Fiorina: 'I'll Be Rooting For Her'
By Dom Giordano
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Carly Fiorina was clearly one of the stars of the last Republican debate. Her passionate plea against the practices of Planned Parenthood was a shining moment. However, I thought the best moment was her specific answer to dealing with Putin as he rolled into Ukraine. It was very specific and it offered me hope that there are clear steps to stop him.
So when I interviewed her this week, I really wanted to probe how she would deal with Putin and the chaotic situation in Syria. She talked clearly about each of our multiple allies needed and how she would provide arms to the Kurds, a no fly zone for the Turks, and intelligence for the Egyptians. Her answer was cogent and solution based. It was exactly what I want to hear from politicians in order to sort out the best candidate.
It's also clear that Fiorina has risen to the top tier of candidates. MSNBC is devoting increasing amounts of time to attacking whether or not she was ever even a secretary as her bio claims. We discussed this and she seemed to take all this as a sign of the threat she poses.
With the exception of Jeb Bush, I have interviewed all of the Republican candidates for president, many of them multiple times.
I admire many of them and their skills. Carly clearly is among the top communicators and at worst on the very short list to be the vice presidential candidate. She is a great contrast to Hillary Clinton.
The next presidential debate will be very important to see how Fiorina fares now that she has arrived. My guess is that the moment is not too big for her. I'll be rooting for her.
