Gas Leak Forces Closure Of Elementary School In West Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Students at an elementary school in West Philadelphia are being dismissed early due to a natural gas leak.

The gas leak happened at the W.C. Bryant Promise Academy located at 60th Street and Cedar Avenue.

A School District spokesperson said the students were transported to nearby Anderson Elementary School located in the 1000 block of South 60th Street.

School officials said the students would be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

Parents of students at W.C. Bryant Promise Academy have been notified.

It was not immediately known when W.C. Bryant would reopen.

The gas leak remains under investigation.
