Future Stars Of Broadway Under The Spotlight In Bucks County
By Brad Segall
NEW HOPE, Pa. (CBS) --- The future stars of Broadway could be performing on stage at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope for the next ten days.
It's a once in a lifetime experience for 18 teens from throughout Bucks and Montgomery counties and New Jersey. They are part of the Playhouse Youth Company which is performing Beauty and the Beast Junior on the legendary stage.
They were selected from a group of 100 that went through a rigorous competition. Director of Education Hester Kamin says it's more than just singing, dancing, and acting.
"I think that they have an idea of what it really is to be in the performing arts," Kamin said. "The amount of hard work that it takes, the amount of persistence that it takes, the importance of the relationships that they develop with us and each other."
The performances are the culmination of a six-week musical theater training program led by professional teaching artists. They continue through August 9th.
