Fugitive Captured After Standoff At Cherry Hill Inn

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) – Police in Camden County have arrested a fugitive wanted on weapons charges in northern New Jersey.

Around 8:45 a.m. on Monday, police received information that a fugitive, Maurice Bodie, 30, was staying in Cherry Hill.

Officers spotted Bodie at the Feathernest Inn near Route 38 and ordered him to come out of the building.

Bodie reportedly refused and began barricading himself and his partner inside the hotel room.

Officers on the scene contacted the Camden County Sheriff's Emergency Response Team and the Cherry Hill Police Department, and after a brief standoff, the negotiator on site got Bodie to surrender. His partner was also secured without incident.

Police say Bodie was wanted in Union County on a warrant for unlawful possession of weapons and resisting arrest. He is now being charged with an additional count of resisting arrest on top of his eight year prison sentence.
