From The Process To The Future, Fans Celebrate All Things Sixers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's a fun time to be a Philadelphia 76ers fan!
The team added another top prospect Thursday night, sending the crowd of thousands at the team's draft party in Northern Liberties into a frenzy.
It was no surprise the Sixers were drafting Markelle Fultz out of the University of Washington first overall, but when the announcement was made, the Piazza at Schmidt's Commons erupted.
"The dynasty begins," says fan Dominic Bellocchio. "Looks like we're all trusting the process finally. It took a few years."
"It's emotional, I would say," adds fan Hannah Sarafianas. "We're going to be a good team this year. Trust the Process."
A process longtime Sixers fan Josh Davidson hopes is about to end:
"It's a mix of excitement and slight anxiousness because, even though everyone's excited, now we have to actually deliver."
This fan sums the situation up nicely:
"Still in the process, but soon it's going to be a championship. We got the recipe and now we're going to make the cake."
Based on the reaction to Fultz getting taken (even though fans knew it was coming), plus all the "trust the process" and "let's go Sixers" chants filling the draft party, it appears that cake may be ready to go in the oven.
