For The Visiting Under-30 Crowd, A Traditional Philadelphia Eye-Opener

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Dozens of people in Philadelphia for Forbes Magazine's "Under 30 Summit" this week got an early start on the day by running up the art museum steps.

"What better way to start the day than the traditional Philly way," said Forbes editor Randall Lane, who took part.

"We had the great Temple University band playing the 'Rocky' theme when we came up, and we had about 50 of our Under 30 Summit attendees with us -- it was awesome," he says.

And Lane says there has been quite a reception for Forbes' Under 30 Summit here in Philadelphia.

"It's always been one of the world's great cities," he tells KYW Newsradio.  "It's had some tougher times, but you can look around -- I mean, this is a city that is on the rise and reclaiming the glory it deserves."

And he says the feedback from attendees has been off the charts:

"You can just look at Twitter and you can see what's going on.  We have a love affair going on with millennials and Philly."

Dan Berkowitz, who grew up in Broomall, went to college in Chicago, and now calls LA home, agrees.

"The city's grown a lot.  I think the city's always had a lot of character, (and a) great work ethic," he tells KYW Newsradio.

The Under 30 Summit has about 2,000 people in town, bringing together members of Forbes' "30 under 30" list with mentors and business leaders.
