Flyers Open Key Homestand Tonight Against Columbus
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Flyers are playing their best hockey of the season. They have earned at least a point in nine straight games and they have clawed their way to within six points of the final playoff spot in the East.
The Flyers will look to continue that surge tonight as they welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Center in the first game of a four-game homestand.
After beating the Sabres in Buffalo 2-1 on Sunday, the Flyers' record sits at 24-22-10, good for 58 points. Boston currently holds down the final playoff spot in the East with 64 points.
This will be the fifth and final meeting between the Flyers and the Blue Jackets this season. Columbus has won three of the first four, including a 4-3 overtime decision on Friday night in Ohio. In that game the Flyers blew a 3-1 third period lead.
