Critical Game For Flyers Tonight In Chicago Vs. Defending Champs
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Flyers have moved to within a point of the final playoff spot in the East thanks to a 7-1-1 surge in their last nine games. They will look to stay hot tonight as they visit the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Flyers beat Detroit last night, 4-3. The win was really big because the Red Wings currently hold that final playoff spot in the conference. Detroit has 79 points, the Flyers now have 78. Detroit is idle tonight.
Chicago has 88 points, that's good for third place in a very tough Central Division. The Blackhawks bring a three-game losing streak into tonight's game. Last time out on Monday, they got smacked by the Kings, at home, 5-0.
This will be the second and final meeting between these two teams during the regular season. The Flyers won the first 3-0 at the Center back on October 14th. Michal Neuvirth earned the shutout in net that game with 30 saves.
KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Dave Isaac of the Courier Post about the continued strong play of the Flyers and this match-up with Chicago.
