Flyers Host Blackhawks Tonight, Honor Timonen
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Flyers will host the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks tonight at the Center.
Philadelphia is off to a 1-1-1 start this season and coming off the win. Last time out, on Monday, the Flyers shut out the Florida Panthers in South Philadelphia, 1-0. Michal Neuvirth made 31 saves in that game, earning the shutout in net for the Flyers and the veteran is expected between the pipes again tonight.
Chicago is off to a 2-1-0 start this season.
Tonight will also be a special night as the Flyers honor Kimmo Timonen. The defenseman played seven seasons with the Flyers, amassing 270 points in 519 games in the Orange and Black. Timonen missed the first three quarters of last season with blood clots. The Flyers dealt him at the trade deadline to the Blackhawks. He was able to return to the ice with Chicago and win the only Stanley Cup of his career.
