Flyers Visit Detroit For Critical Showdown With Red Wings Tonight

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Just four games remain in the regular season for the Flyers and they will be played over the next five days.

The first game of this closing run will be tonight against the Red Wings in Detroit. Both of these teams, along with Boston, have 91 points on the season. Only two playoff spots are available for the three teams, so every point is critical down the stretch. The Flyers have the most chances to pile up the points here in this final week as they still have four games left to play. Detroit has three and the Bruins just two.

Philadelphia will be looking to bounce back tonight after getting smacked last time out on Sunday in Pittsburgh, 6-2.

The Flyers have enjoyed success against the Red Wings this season, winning the first two match-ups between the two squads. On January 17th, the Flyers won in a shootout in Detroit, 2-1. Two months later, on March 15th, the Flyers grabbed a 4-3 decision in South Philadelphia.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with the television play-by-play voice of the Flyers, Jim Jackson of Comcast Sportsnet, about tonight's game and what has allowed the Flyers to even be in the position to be fighting for a playoff berth.
