Flyers' Captain Claude Giroux Finalist For Hart Trophy
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One day after being eliminated by the Rangers in the post-season, Flyers captain Claude Giroux has been named as one of the three Hart Trophy finalists. The Hart Trophy is the NHL's annual most valuable player (MVP) award.
The other two finalists are Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ryan Getzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks. Crosby finished first in the league in scoring (104 points), Getzlaf second (87 points), and Giroux third (86 points).
Giroux becomes the fifth Flyer to be a finalist for the award, but the only Flyers to have ever won the award are Eric Lindros (1994-95) and Bobby Clarke (1972-73, 1974-75, 1975-76).
The winner of this year's Hart Trophy award will be announced on June 24th at the NHL Awards ceremony in Las Vegas.
