Flooding Rain Continues Throughout The Region

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Flooding rain continues across the area this evening as a slow-moving system slowly rotates through the northeast. The rain has been falling heavily all day, with many areas checking in with over two inches of rain. A persistent stream of heavy rain has been slamming the area from the south and west, and it will continue to fall through the overnight hours, though the heaviest should taper by around midnight.

The heaviest of the rain on Wednesday afternoon fell in Chester County, where some spots saw upwards of three inches of rain. Flood warnings have been posted for many smaller creeks and streams in the area, including French Creek, Perkiomen Creek, Manatawny Creek and Chester Creek, as well as small creeks and streams throughout the Delaware and Schuylkill Valleys.
The Flood Watch remains in effect through Thursday morning.
Overnight, we can expect the heaviest rain to taper to showers, but any shower can still be quite heavy. Tomorrow is a much warmer day, with highs in the mid 70's and at least a little sunshine. Then a quiet stretch of weather for Friday and the weekend, with highs in the upper 60's and at least a little sunshine each day (but also the chance for spotty showers).
