Flight From Italy Bound For Philly Diverted To Ireland -- Again

By Steve Beck

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A flight that was bound for Philadelphia from Italy had to be diverted after several crew members became ill.

It is the second time in less than two weeks that a plane from Venice that was bound for Philadelphia had to be diverted because of crew members feeling ill.

U.S. Airways Flight 715 was scheduled to depart from Venice and land in Philadelphia Monday.

However, during the flight, several flight attendants became ill and the plane was forced to land in Dublin, Ireland.

It was not immediately known what caused the crew members to become ill, but fumes are believed to have played a role.

After landing in Dublin, the crew members were evaluated by medics and were allowed to return home.

The passengers were eventually re-assigned to different airlines and their trip continued to Philadelphia.

On May 10th, also on a U.S. Airways flight from Venice to Philadelphia, several crew members became ill and the plane had to land in Dublin.

The investigation is ongoing.
